Day 372 10/14/24

“They dropped bombs on the tents set up at the hospital and people sleeping there were burned alive.” That is a sentence I just constructed in this, the year of our Lord 2024. These are words that I put together to form a sentence in 2024.

“I saw a child being burned alive.”

Another sentence from this day.

Not looking doesn’t make it go away.

My God, you only have to see it from a fucking phone screen. You don’t have to smell burning flesh amidst the horrors of your wailing loved ones. You don’t have to hold your dead child in your arms or search frantically for their body parts.No. You just see it from the comfort of the life you live. This is the price of that comfort.

You look away.

Not looking doesn’t make it go away.

These are real true words of things that are really, truly happening right now.

I didn’t have these words on my bingo card of life.

I expected better of us all.

This hopelessness, it’s all I know. Resigned acceptance. And so much rage.
